At the end of Term 3, the Year 6 students invited their parents and members of our school community to attend an expo. The showcase displayed various Social Justice issues that touched their hearts, which they researched throughout the term. The issues ranged from, the War in Ukraine, homelessness, mental health awareness to animal cruelty. Our students presented their research using powerpoint presentations, information posters, art and newspaper articles, which were collated to make a “Peter’s Press” newspaper for each class.
Prior to the expo, the Year 6 students organised a casual clothes day and asked every student to bring a gold coin donation. The audience at the expo voted with their hearts as to where to donate the money. We are pleased to announce that the social justice issue, ‘ Women’s rights in Afghanistan’ won and the $524 raised will be donated to the Support Association for Women of Afghanistan (SAWA).
Thank you to everyone who participated. Our Year 6’s are proud of the positive impact they have made in our world, stemming from the learning that took place in their classrooms.
