At St. Peter’s discovery units are planned using the inquiry approach to learning. The discovery process allows students to become responsible for their own learning as they are actively encouraged to have a voice and choice in curriculum design.
Students will effectively develop skills such as: self-management, problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration and resilience so that they can be active citizens within our community and beyond.
At St.Peter’s we aim to:
- Integrate many areas of the curriculum into each discovery unit to ensure the learning is relevant, challenging and delivered in meaningful contexts
- Tune our students into each discovery unit through the use of literature, hands on experiences, incursions or excursions
- Provide opportunities for students to explore, find out, organise information and think further
- Explore possible ways to act on our learning so that students can make a difference in our community and in our world
